Jesus wept - quote “There is something comforting about a politician who is just that little bit less than perfect. Someone with more to offer at the personal level than the soft-focus confections whipped-up for public consumption by The Woman’s Weekly and New Idea.”

Nup not that imperfect - he should have acknowledged fault during covid and he hasn’t - he’s now suggesting more lockdowns to deal with the fuel crisis - enough of this thinly disguised totalitarian bullshit - no one is perfect - no - but this gimp is still covered in shit from the covid era mis management - let alone the crap treaty, identity politics weakness…

I’m afraid I can’t rejoin Labour or the Greens unless they are prepared to front up on sex based rights. Thanks Chris for seeing Labour’s ‘rainbow’ policy as undermining current protections for women, lesbians, gays snd bisexuals. Like many women ( adult human females) I strongly oppose replacing rights based on sex with the subjective and fluid category of gender identity. This annihilates current sex (science-based) protections for women and girls and the hard won legally and socially supported rights of gays and lesbians as same sex attracted. See Australia’s Tickle vs Giggle case or here in Aotearoa, LAVA vs Wellington Pride. Standing up for rights based on (objective) biological sex is not hate or bigotry. Men (biological males) must be free to dress and ‘identify’ as they please. But they, trans women, are not women and have no place in facilities, activities and services designed for women. We abhor the erasure of the words ‘woman’ and ‘mother’ from legislation, health and maternity policy and reducing us to body parts ( people with uterus etc). As a life long leftist I cannot support the coalition partners, some of whose members have agreed with this. But on other issues, such as environment , tax, health and education I am widely opposed to those parties. I am alienated from the parties that see themselves as ‘left’ but there’s not much ‘left’ left in them. So once again, the Women’s Rights Party ( formed as a lobby for disaffected leftist women - and male allies) will get my vote. Unless Hipkins faces reality or is replaced by someone who does.
