A boring election? We can only hope!
When journalists stop being bored and cynical, it’s time for New Zealanders to watch their backs.
LET’S GET ONE THING STRAIGHT, the chances of 2026 producing a long boring election campaign are extremely low. With the whole world experiencing “rupture”, boring is the last thing 2026 is going to be. And yet, many political journalists are saying the next 200 days will be one big yawn. They are bored silly with the whole process already – as bored as the politicians they are paid to cover.
